Ms. Sewon Kim is from Seoul, South Korea, and began studying piano at the age of 13. Before coming to the United States, she served as accompanist for the Heavenly Voice Men’s Chorus and the Jesus First Missionary Choir between 1992 and 1998, performing with them on multiple occasions in Tokyo and Sendai, Japan. Prior to 1999, she also served for 15 consecutive years as pianist at Li Moon Dong Presbyterian Church.

Since 2000, Ms. Kim has accompanied the Dallas Christian Singers, whose performances have been broadcast several times on Fox 4 television. In 2002, she served as accompanist for Plano Children’s Theater and has also accompanied many middle school students in solo and ensemble music competitions. Since 1999, she has served as pianist at Wesley Korean Methodist Church in Carrollton. Since 2016, she has been the full-time accompanist for the Singing Girls of Texas and the Children’s Choir of Texas at the Fort Worth Academy of Fine Arts.

After earning her bachelor’s degree in composition from the prestigious College of Music at Kyung Hee University, Ms. Kim has been actively engaged in instrumental and vocal accompaniment, serving musicians of different ages and levels of musical development. From 1999 to 2003, she studied jazz piano and music education at the University of North Texas. In 2007, she earned a master’s degree in piano pedagogy with honors from Texas Woman’s University, where she studied under Dr. Richard Shuster.

In addition to her work as a collaborative pianist, Ms. Kim has more than 20 years of experience teaching piano. She previously served with distinction as President of Eden Piano Institute in Seoul. In recent years, in addition to teaching piano to her son, she has taught more than 30 private students. Ms. Kim is highly regarded for her piano technique and musical sensitivity. Her contributions to music—particularly in vocal accompaniment and children’s piano education—are widely recognized.
